SAFE G: Empowering Resilient Communities

Mission. To empower local communities to design immediate and effective SAFE G solutions that implement optical fiber wired to the home and office. Local taxpayers and ratepayers are entitled to this alternative to wireless, because they have already paid for it. Please see: Irregulators v. FCC.

5G/AI/Internet of Things Juggernaut presents an imminent threat. The harms to our community’s physical and mental health, the local environment, violations of citizen’s rights to due process, property, and personal privacy are foreseeable and preventable. The threat is especially dangerous to our children, elderly people, those with special sensitivities, disabled persons with chronic illnesses, caregivers, and our economically disadvantaged and minority communities that have no escape in their homes or workplaces.

Remedy: Community Empowerment: An effective remedy begins with widespread education and training in a proven system of wise leadership, community organization, team building, and negotiation. With this purpose we have created a 5G Dojo to support local communities around the world that are facing similar challenges. The key is to share negotiation successes and practical experience, so these lessons can be immediately deployed within the network. Equally essential is to fortify community-wide resilience rapidly and effectively. (See: 5 Minutes toResilience)

Our Funding Goal: $ 100,000

MISSION: The mission of 5G•ILAN, an international member organization, is to cause a beneficial and timely shift toward a more balanced global optical fiber wired/wireless infrastructure — one that is safe, secure, and environmentally protective, using international and national laws, legal institutions and processes, as primary instruments to effect beneficial change.

The members recognize that there are accelerating global actions taken by a complex of companies, industries and governments to build a global infrastructure dominated by wireless technologies. 5G•ILAN members believe this trend imposes risks upon millions of people and the living environment that are being recklessly ignored. 5G•ILAN seeks to restore a wise and compassionate balance.

From 1976-1983 he was twice Visiting Mitsubishi Professor at the Harvard Law School and also taught courses as a Visiting Professor at MIT on the legal issues of strategic industries.

He has been a senior adviser to the U.S. State Department during the Carter Administration (where he established the Japan Industrial Policy Group), The World Bank, The Prime Minister’s Office of Japan, The People’s Republic of China, and the European Commission (where he trained the Commission’s Japanese negotiating teams). Ben Levi

A solar engineer by training, Ben bought his first Macintosh computer in 1984, and turned that into a computer consulting career spanning over 35 years. Ben consults in all aspects of Apple hardware, software, training, systems design, networking, Filemaker Pro databases, and now all things internet-related. Over that time he has assisted hundreds of clients worldwide in graphic design, editing, publishing and consulting on their Apple systems as well as online conferencing platforms.

Ben has combined his hardware and software expertise with experience living in an intentional community where he explored areas of personal development, community building, problem-solving facilitation, Bohmian Dialogue, and other “wetware” technologies. In 1993 he moved from Los Angeles, CA to Boulder, CO where he continued his Apple consulting, supplementing it with further education in Environmental Leadership as well as completing an Authentic Leadership and Coaching program through Naropa Institute/University.

In 1998, with Y2K looming on the horizon as a potential major disruption, Ben fulfilled a dream of designing and contracting a 3,000 square foot self-sufficient solar home in Earthstar community in the Boulder foothills. He currently lives there with his partner of 18 years, where they practice living with solar electricity, solar hot water heating, and plug-in hybrid transportation.

In 1999, Ben worked briefly for Ken Wilber in v1.0 of his Integral Institute, and through that met Dr. Don Beck, co-creator of Spiral Dynamics, an evolutionary model of human development. Now over 20 years later, Ben has become an expert in Beck’s Spiral Dynamics integral (SDi) model, and has taught SDi certification trainings with Dr. Beck since 2009, along with consulting with clients on utilizing the SDi model in individual, organizational and cultural evolution.

His various projects have included working with Aliveware, a New Zealand company working to facilitate personal change, and  managing a multi-year Whole Systems Change consortium of global practitioners, consultants and integral thinkers to share wisdom on large-scale whole system change methodologies. He has assisted various entities in organizing face-to-face as well as web-based conferences and acting as rapporteur; a partial list of projects include:

  • Managing the 5G Network Challenge — 2019-present
  • YOUnify Summit — 2019
  • Spiral Dynamics Summit on the Future — 2018
  • Regenerative Future Summit — 2017
  • Dialogue, Deliberation and Systemic Transformation — 2015
  • The Enlightenment Conference — 2012
  • The Integral Leadership Collaborative — 2011

At Earthstar, Ben and his partner organize a cooperative of four USDA certified organic farms, including their own farm, Wildcat Gardens. They also spend most winters every year in New Zealand, where they have permanent residency.

Consulting, In-house Training Engagements, and Participants in Workshops

“The emphasis throughout Piloting Through Chaos is on negotiation, but the analysis and wisdom go well beyond that now available in the literature. This volume is a breakthrough in the use of words, thought processes and managing behavior responsibly.”

– Oliver Oldman, Learned Hand Professor (Emeritus), Harvard Law School

“Julian Gresser assesses some of the fundamental aspects of human behavior. Any negotiator, however experienced, will find new insights in this book.”

– Peter Price, Honorary Member of the European Parliament

“One portfolio company had been mired in negotiations with a foreign company for over a year. In one day’s training, they put together a new plan and team, and three months later closed an OEM agreement worth millions.”

Dr. Chuck K. Chan, General Partner, Alpine Technology Ventures

“IPOs in China and Japan, inventions in clean energy, decoding Japanese negotiation strategies, incubators for creativity and innovation, the role of beauty in discovery and bringing ideas to market—Julian Gresser is a Renaissance man with an amazing array of achievements and gifts.”

– John Tarrant, Zen master, author, Bring Me the Rhinoceros and other works

“Gresser is an international attorney, but also a 21st Century Renaissance Man, with a lifetime of experience in business, music, martial arts, invention, and meditation.”

Kenneth Cohen, author of The Way of Qigong and Honoring the Medicine

“Julian Gresser’s work shows with insight, style and imagination how integrity, that most fundamental of human virtues, continues to be vital to success, and even survival, in the ongoing negotiation of life in our rapidly changing world.  The added value in Piloting Through Chaos is the author’s suggestions on how integrity can be cultivated by conscious thought and action, and on how core integrity can affect outcomes in a variety of contexts.”

Peter L. Murray, Visiting Professor of Law, Harvard Law School

“The market is flooded with books and tapes about negotiating, but no one, until now, offers insight into the underlying essence of our interpersonal abilities. This fresh approach, if followed, can be transforming for us as individuals, and as a nation.”

– Claudine Schneider, Former U.S. Congresswoman

“Julian is 100% invested in teaching; an active listener; dedicated to ensuring that the class learns; he is high in energy and empathetic. What would my comments be to future participants? Exciting; out-of-the-box; has life application; fundamental to all relationships.”

– Bobbie Busha, Manager, BellSouth

“We need a cultural revolution as transformative as were the scientific and industrial revolutions. If human culture is to survive without unacceptable impacts on the planetary environment, we must live differently as a culture. This means that the arts and humanities are on the front lines of collaborating with scientists and engineers, we need a ‘second renaissance.’ Julian Gresser, in the second edition of “Piloting through Chaos,” presents a sharply focused methodology for attacking some of the urgent problems and seizing the new opportunities.”

Roger Malina, Editor, Leonardo

“Julian Gresser is one of those rarest of teachers. He embodies the wisdom that he shares. His pioneering work in negotiation is a quantum leap in human understanding and will move people to their highest level of truth and accomplishment. The value is incalculable, not only to individuals, but to our society.”

– Michael Fitzgerald, Former Director, Washington State Department of Trade & Economic Development

“There is widespread agreement that leadership at any level and in any area requires integrity in the person, the practice, and the profession. It is also clear that this is no easy, simple task, nor can it remain at the mercy of luck, sentimental or institutional formation. Julian Gresser – lawyer, scholar, martial artist, and street-smart practitioner – now makes available the teaching and achievement of integrity in its integral form. As a foundation president, former commissioner, ambassador, and university president, I have had occasion to enlist Julian’s remarkable system and energies. He/it is a godsend for our troubled times and leaders.”

– Dr. Glen A. Olds, U.S. Ambassador to UNESCO
